We arrived in the Algerian port city of Oran on September 28, stayed a night, and then boarded our ferry to Alicante, Spain. The ferry detour is necessary because the Algeria and Morocco borders are closed. From Alicante, we’ll be driving some 200 kilometres to reach our connecting ferry to the Moroccan city of Nador, our sixth and final country in this expedition.
We’d like to thank PETRONAS Algeria staff - Encik Wahab, Mr. Farid and Mms. Mina, for they have been very helpful during our stay in Algeria. The Algierian government also ensured our safety at all times. We had security personnel with our convoy, outside our hotels, and even when we went out for coffee.
The cars are holding up well although minor problems have occurred such as engines stalling because of contaminated diesel fuel and broken engine mounts.
