SUDAN EGYPT LIBYA TUNISIA ALGERIA
MOROCCO
The Tunisian Republic is the smallest country in North Africa. Bordering the Mediterranean Sea, it lies between Algeria and Libya. The terrain changes from mountains in the north, to a hot and dry central plain before merging into desert in the south.

Tunisian highlights:

The strange stone troglodyte village of Chenini where people built their homes inside and outside the mountains.

Ksours, cliff-top fortified granaries were once used by the Berber tribes, the original inhabitants of Tunisia.

Ksar Ghilane, an ancient Roman outpost oasis located close to Chott el Jarid, an enormous salt pan where temperatures can soar to 45 degrees Celsius.

Kairouan, the "City of 50 mosques," is the spiritual home of all Tunisians.

Tunis, considered one of the greatest and wealthiest cities in the Islamic world from the 12th to the 16th century, has a UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed medina (old city). Its Bardo Museum houses Tunisia’s finest collection of mosaics in the world.
