
31 August 2002 - The PETRONAS Adventure Team celebrated our country's 45th Independance Day with such high spirits with the nation. As many as 12 PAT cars took part in theparade. Members of the public were cheering as the convoy, decorated with the Jalur Gemilang, made its way down to Dataran Merdeka. Tan Sri Hassan Merican stood and cheered as the PAT team passed in front of the grandstand. The sight of the convoy in front of the historical Sultan Abdul Samad was definitely one for the album.
The PETRONAS Siberia Expedition documentary will be aired in October 2002 on TV3. The 7-episode television programme highlights the team's 37-day journey through six countries - China, Russia, Mongolia, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia - a journey of almost 13,000km. Airdates and times to be confirmed at a later date.
PETRONAS Adventure Team will participate in the upcoming Rainforest Challenge 2002 from 25th October until 5th November, 2002. PAT will send four teams to participate in what off-roaders have called treacherous terrains. Names of participants will be announced soon.
The PETRONAS Adventure Team will join Malaysia in celebrating the 45th anniversary of its independence.
Fifteen PETRONAS Siberia 2002 Expedition members and their cars will participate in the National Day parade in Merdeka Square on August 31.
Since May 2002, when the preparations for PETRONAS Siberia 2002 first began, the PETRONAS Adventure Team website has had as many as 202,135 hits (as of August 2). A big proportion of those hits (114,450) happened in July, when the expedition was travelling through Siberia, Mongolia, China, Laos and Thailand.
The expedition has garnered a huge following with supporters from not only Malaysia, but from countries such as the Netherlands, United States, Australia, Japan, Russia and Singapore.
