WELCOME HOME!

The PETRONAS ADVENTURE TEAM reached Putrajaya on Thursday, 27 September 2001, after driving for more than 20,000 km. The landmark achievement brought to a successful conclusion the historic PETRONAS Silk Road Adventure 2001. The honourable Minister of Youth and Sports led the welcoming party. VIPs included the Chairman of Petronas and family members of the participants.

TEAM DUE BACK ON 27 SEPT 2001

CHIANG RAI, 21 SEPTEMBER 2001 – The Team is now in northern Thailand . A day of rest, before moving on to Bangkok tomorrow, a distance of over 700 km. They will spend two nights there before heading south again on 24 September for Huahin.

The following day, they head for Haadyai, where they will spend two nights before leaving at dawn for Malaysia on Thursday, 27 September. They are expected back in Putrajaya in the evening of the same day.

PAT IN LAOS, ENTERING THAILAND

CHINA-LAOS BORDER , 18 SEPTEMBER 2001 – The PAT Team is now crossing into Thailand, the sixth country they will visit. So far, the convoy has driven through Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, China and Laos. Laos is the shortest part of the route with China the longest, taking up to 22 days.
