The PETRONAS Adventure Team completed its seventh international mission – a 43-day overland expedition through Thailand, Laos, China, and Tibet by the end of September 2005.

Experience the thrills, cultures and breathtaking scenery beginning 15 November, every Tuesday at 10pm on TV2. Brought to you by PETRONAS.

EPISODE ONE: THE LAND OF SMILES
(15 Nov 2005)
The first episode sees the PETRONAS Adventure Team preparing for their seventh expedition – a 43-day overland expedition to the Himalayas. Their first country on the route is Thailand where they also conduct a community relations programme in Bangkok and visit several PETRONAS service stations in conjunction with the launch of PETRONAS Syntium in Thailand. Some team members also get emotional at the Death Railway in Kanchanaburi Province. The programme also includes a technical segment on scrutineering and a cuisine segment on Thai food.

EPISODE TWO: LANDSLIDES IN LAOS
(22 Nov 2005)
Monks in Mae Hong Son greet the PETRONAS Adventure Team as they begin the second week of the PETRONAS Trans-Himalayas expedition. After visiting the long-necked community in a Karen village nearby they head to Chiang Mai and then Chiang Rai. Bad roads and landslides in Laos are of some concern to team members, especially the less experienced ones. After crossing the Mekong River into Laos, the convoy leader cheats death and car no. 11 operates on 2-wheel drive in 4-wheel drive terrain. What else can possibly befall the team, as they make their way to Luang Nam Tha and then onwards to the Chinese border?

EPISODE THREE: YUNNAN - SOUTH OF THE CLOUDS
(29 Nov 2005)
In this episode, the team explores Yunnan province – from busy Kunming to idyllic Lijiang and remote Deqin on the Yunnan-Tibet border. The team’s second community relations programme takes place in a village school near Kunming. While Wai Chee’s continuing car problems plague him and the mechanics, complaints from 17 other drivers means remedial action must be taken. The order comes in – check all cars and people – or don’t continue. From here onwards, the team will face a host of other obstacles – from thin air to fatal Acute Mountain Sickness and rugged mountain passes above 4,000m.

EPISODE FOUR: TIBET - THE LAND OF SNOWS
(6 Dec 2005)
From the Chinese border town of Deqin, the PETRONAS Adventure Team makes inroads into Tibet. But a landslide and a host of other problems lie in wait, hampering their progress towards Everest Base Camp. After a community relations programme at a primary school near New Tingri, the team make their final approach towards Mount Everest. Will the team be the first Malaysian motorised convoy to reach its base camp?

EPISODE FIVE: ROOF OF THE WORLD
(13 Dec 2005)
The PETRONAS Adventure Team is the first Malaysian motorised convoy to reach the base camp of Mount Everest. After savouring the highest mountain in the world and providing medical care to the people at Rongbuk Monastery, the team returns to Xigaze. Then onto Lhasa to experience a city steeped in Buddhism. Later, there will be more hurdles to overcome - a team member falls worryingly sick and the convoy is pulled over by the Chinese police!

EPISODE SIX: ANCIENT KHAM AND BEYOND
(20 Dec 2005)
On this last leg of the expedition, the PETRONAS Adventure Team members forge new friendships, strengthen existing ones, and discover that camaraderie and team spirit is enough to motivate the team to complete their long and arduous journey. From the Tibetan Plateau, the team explores ancient Kham, and then the World Heritage Site of Jiuzhaigou. Acute Mountain Sickness claims yet another victim, and one vehicle’s roadworthiness defies the odds of survival.

"At some point we were not coming here, but I believe our perseverance paid off. It's a proud moment for the PETRONAS Adventure Team and for all Malaysians" - Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman, Expedition Leader.
