The "Land of Smiles" welcomes the expedition with her breathtaking natural beauty, warm hospitality, inspiring temples and wealth of culture. From Malaysia, the journey picks up at the border town of Sadao, then continues north to Hua Hin. Bangkok comes next where the team will carry out its first official Community Relations Programme.

From the "City of Angels", the Malaysians head for the hills of Thailand – to Mae Sot and Mae Hong Son, towns close to the Myanmar border. Expedition members will meet Thailand’s ethnic minorities, notably the long-necked Karenni. The team plans to donate books and utensils to the villagers. After nine days in Thailand, the convoy will ferry across the Mekong into Laos, at the border town of Chiang Khong.
