On August 17, the PETRONAS Adventure Team embarks upon its seventh international mission – a stirring passage of discovery across the Tibetan Plateau to the Base Camp of Mount Everest.

From Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur, 62 expedition members will journey in a convoy of 23 cars through Thailand, Laos, China and Tibet. As more than 50% of the journey is above 4,000m, one of the biggest challenges will be driving and camping at high altitudes.

The route will also take them across five mountain passes more than 5,000m high. Team members will sample a completely different way of life and see first hand how people live so high above sea level. It will be an enriching experience for many.

The 43-day journey covers more than 15,000 grueling kilometres.
