ARCHIVED MESSAGES
TO HOME - WEEK 6
|
To: Mien From: Assam 28th September | Hi Mien, I got your stones, then something happened, and I had to put them back on another mountain pass, with a fine. I took a photo of them for you. At least they will enjoy a new life in a different province, yet looking skywards to heaven and beyond. Will show you the photo sometime. Mojo has stones too if you are still keen on one.
To: Su From: Assam 28th September | Hi. I'm writing this from Shenzhen. It is warm and humid, and hazy too with pollution - very much like home, I hear. How I will miss the frigid air of Tibet, the blue skies of the Himalayas, and the 5am wake up calls EVERY morning! Had my first glass of red wine for I don't know how long, although I think white is still best. Looking forward to a hot cuppa of Earl Grey Tea. Am all greened out here in China.
To: To all our friends in Sabah From: Mt. Kinabalu Team & Api Api Hash House Club 28th September | We have achieved our goal - i.e. we have left our foot prints on Mt. Everest Base camp!
Our expedition will end on 30th Sept 2005. How sad! But we are pleased that we can see you all again real soon. Is there a big dinner awaiting us?
To: Su From: Assam 23rd September | Loved your messages especially when you answer your own questions! Forget the Scrabbles, the ice cold beer sounds good enough. Knowing my luck, my cough will disappear when I touch down at KLIA on Sept 30. That’s how it always happens in the movies right? Ya think?
Be patient and read the fine print before you sign the lease. Better still, invite us all over to test the place for you, and then get our feedback. We promise we won’t trash your place. We are in Chengdu for 2 nights, and then we will be in Shenzhen soon, and flight home.
To: Phin From: Assam 23rd September | Dear Phin, heard about your flu and bag loads of work. Same here too, got a nasty cough that won’t go away. Maybe a few rounds of scrabbles and ice cold beer will do the trick. Only had 550ml of beer – one and last – before a round of antibiotics. Sounds kind of anti-climax eh? Keep well.
To: Iky Hamzah From: Chica 23rd September | My dearest friend, sorry for the late reply. But better late than never ya? Am in constant awe of God’s creations and I am lucky enough to have witnessed some of them in this lifetime. The foot of Everest was quite emotional for me. The valleys and the mountains were breathtaking. Am truly missing you and wish that you could have shared this journey with me. I’ll be back soon and we’ll catch up and chat! There’s lots I want to tell you! Love you!!!
To: Nini Ramlan & Teng From: Chica 23rd September | Dear sweetie, sorry it took so long to reply. Been rather busy. But I must say that I enjoyed Lhasa to bits. And the scenery, absolute refreshing. I’ll be home in about a week or so, let’s bodega! I miss you guys terribly and wish that you were here to share this with me. Hugs and kisses to all at home. Xxox!
To: Family and Friends From: Kaiser One Ching 23rd September | Dear All, That’s me in the picture...still as healthy and strong as a yak! I’m having my “Lunch on the Run”. We normally averaged 10 to 12 hours on the road, off-road, mountain passess etc. So, lunch is a quick affair...Prepared, served and ready to eat, all within 15 minutes. It’s just a big cup of instant noodle. But, it is more often than not tastier and has more flavours than the 10 dishes they serve us for dinner!!!!!
I will finish my lunch with a piece of chocolate wafer and a few snorts of pure oxygen! Yes! Oxygen is part of the meal as we are most of the time above 10’000 feet where the air is pretty thin and breathing is a little difficult. So, every car carries an oxygen filled pillow. So much for now. Should be seeing you guys soon as we come to the successful end of our wonderful and exciting journey. Regards and best wishes.
To: All at Home From: Andy Tan 23rd September | Dear Papa, Got your email. We are now in Chengdu and its only a few more days before we hit Shenzen. Yes, the hardest parts are over. Its all the way highway now. I am glad to hear that all of you are well. Can’t wait to get back to Malaysia and see all of you again. Love, your son.
