ARCHIVED MESSAGES
TO TEAM - WEEK 5
|
To: Oi Fong (Nenek) From: Selene and Lip Wai 20th September | Dearest mama, Forgot to ask you how you liked the Yak butter milk or tea? I hope you tasted the Yak steak too. Figured from the trip and camping experience with such wonderful sceneries, you will find living in hotel rooms boring! How we wished we were there. Did you eat mooncakes last few days?
Finding it difficult to trace on our limited map now to show Laura your location. But we tell her that you are camping in the cold like she did a month ago. She said you are brave!
Had my baby scan and baby check up today. Everything is fine and baby is active.
Our imagination joins you while you continue your travels.
By the way, sorry to hear about your speeding fine. On the brighter note, at least they cannot take points off from your driving license. Keep Safe. Regards to all from Sabah. Enjoy!
To: Stingray From: Bingo Bingo 20th September | I will be in schenzen on the Sept. 27, 2005 to congratulate you and your team there. Before that I will be holidaying in Hong Kong from the 24 to 27. Then I will take a ferry to schenzen.I am coming with my wife shikin. Appreciate if you could book me a room for me till sept. 30. Looking forward to see you. Thanks and regards.

To: Stingray From: Baharom Hamzah (Bingo Bingo) 18th September | Dear boss, It looks like i am not able to join you this year. anyway i hope this will not deter me for next year trip. by that time i should be ok.
since i am not able to join, the worst case scenario for me is to join you in schzen. me and zamrus is planning to greet you and your team in schzen.we will be there on the sept 26. we are trying to go to hong kong for 2 days , jalan jalan. tak pernah pergi hk lagi for us.

Juat hope that you'll be back here coz ...................WE MISS U.................................Remember da gifts you promised us , Its a MUST , ok? Bless Ya.
To: Mama (Oi Fong) From: Lip Wai and Selene 18th September | Dear ma, How are you. Nice to know that you are getting on well, and coping with the cold. You amaze us ma with your expoits!
Laura is enjoying herself now in the school. No more bullying, so an answer to our prayers. The teachers at the new school seem keen, but the school itself is a bit old and run down. They are also starting Saturday classes and we are just wondering if we should enrol Laura to either French or Spanish class. But we wonder how much of a new language a 4 year old will learn. She is already struggling with Mandarin and Cantonese, which we can actually practise with her.
Went to Andrew and Siew Bek's house yesterday. Laura, Emma and Euan really enjoyed playing the chinese lantern (tangloong) for the mooncake festival. Thankfully didn't burn any of the laterns, and didn't burn their house down either. Also had mooncakes, which Lip bought and share with them and another family who was there too. Forgot how filling mooncakes can be, as it has been years since we had some. Laura has been asking to taste the mooncake for weeks!! But when she did taste it she said she didn't like it. Typical. Unfortunately Laura is likely to turn out to be a Malaysia kid who don't like any traditional food inckuding durian. What a waste.
Selene is having a week off next week to prepare for her written exams on the 27 Sept. Hopefully will be able to get some work done. A bit anxious about it. It is such a pain taking exams when you are already so old, and she has a theory that pregnancy actually kills off brain cells, so she has much less brain to concentrate now!! Take care.
To: Assam From: Su Aziz 18th September | G'day Hon Yuen, Phin was wondering where it went but I'll tell him when I see him although he is mighty busy these days with shoots - that time of the year when all the festivities are happening and so close to each other. To let you know, he is well, down with a slight flu for a bit but soldiering on. You keep well and we MUST go for beers when you are back - only 2 weex, eh? My, how time flies - NOT!
To: mior zebra From: dzulhishamuddin asmawi 18th September | From EON GLENMARIE staff is wishing you...happy journey and take care!!!! Allah is always beside you and all the members too......MESIA MENANTI KEPULANGAN ANDA!!!!

Mojo (thanks for reading this message, I owe you one), ko nye tape-tape dah aku pas pada Jimmy. Lewat sehari la, sebab aku agak jet leg. Anyway aku terkejut gak sebab aku kira ada empat je yang aku bawak termasuk Channel 11 Thai, aku confuse? (betul empat je kan sebab aku lupa kira berapa ko bagi ari tu?).
Bravo Lima Faruk, tiket-tiket pun dah saya pas pada Jimmy.

Bagi Belalang, hai gambar siap dengan oxigen face mask ni apa hal, tu la, orang suh pakai baju tebal ko berlengging je, kan dah AMS. Hahaha..Bongek apa cito kawan kau tu? Korang doro dio masak sampai AMS ko?
Anyway you guys got a long journey to home, drive carefully and dengar cakap Echo Lima, tukar-tukar driver, jangan nak jadi cempion (terutama buat Uniform, sapa nak ganti dia?).
Drive carefully, safely and care for you and your passanger safety.
Lastly, to Echo Lima Stingray and management teams, thanks for all your support and believing for Utusan Malaysia to carry your expedition story.

Stingray, kita nye project Sipadan still on kan? Itu Diki saya tak contact lagi sebab dia outstation la.

To: Yed and Bala From: Simba (Joyce) 17th September | When I was with the team last year, Harun repeatedly told me to have fun despite all things and that was one of the best advice I received. Well, in his words, I hope you are having fun and counting yourselves extremely privileged to be part of the team. Enjoy the journey and HAVE FUN ;)
To: Yed From: Simba (Joyce) 17th September | For someone who seemed very doubtful about his writing skills, you have been doing an excellent job with the journals. I enjoy reading your journals.
To: All former Trans Sahara members From: Simba (Joyce) 17th September | Hi, All! I sent messages earlier but I am not sure whether you received
them. I have been following your progress through the website. I share
your joy in having conquered Mount Everest. I believe it must have been
a feeling of pure estacy to have achieved the impossible, and to add
icing to the cake, you were privileged to see the summit as well.
I am currently at Doha airport, returning from Khartoum after completing
two weeks of community service there - teaching English to Sudanese
students. Being at this airport alone this time, I still remember the
excitement of being with all of you and the priceless memories of the
entire expedition.
Almost everyone I met at PETRONAS Sudan office, Khartoum remembers the
team and asked about you. They send their best wishes to all of you.
They remember the CR programme in the school. Some could even remember
various details of the entire expedition for they told me that they
followed the website closely.
Some told me that they watched the CD of the expedition and were truly
impressed with the journey. They also mentioned that the entire
documentary was very professionally done. Well, I told them that Harun
always does an excellent job and that he is with the team again this
year.
All the very best to all of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you
though from a distant land.
To: Andy (Danok) From: Marcus 16th September | happy birthday brother, your wish always come true, coz you always wish to be away from us. if u wish to be away next year we will all disown you. ha! ha! ha! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

To: William Wong & Sabahans From: Wilson Wong 16th September | U guys miss me? HAHA... Yak steak!?! That reminds me of nasi lemak top with beef rendang! Yummy! So, how's my dad, William? Still going on strong? I know he is tough guy. Keep it up. The others? Having the chance to see the Mt. Everest must be damn GREAT! How's the oxygen level? Did you all dress up like the scuba diver? HAHA.. Oh ya! It's the TYT bday in Sabah so I can surf the site abit to know what u guys are up to. So, where're you guys now? No news since 12/09!!! Anyway, hope to hear from you guys soon. Maybe whoever is doing this website can upload a bit of pictures so at least people like me who hasn't been to this kind of adventure can see how actually is like. But I know you should be damn tired by now so.. forget what I have just said. Also, send my regards to my dad, Oii Fong, Anthony Wong, VTS and others. These are the few people that I know well. The others please take care as well and take more pictures for your family to see. Malaysia should be proud of you guys. I think not many countris have this kind of exploration. I thnk in the future, the local newspaper should broadcast such even instead of the country newspaper. This is to highlight to the Malaysian community that we are making the world to know us. Well, take care and ciao.. Till we hear again.
To: Chong Oi Fong (Nenek) From: Selbyn, Catherine & Cucu Jeriel 16th September | Congratulations for reaching Everest base camp with clear blue sky scenery to enjoy, and without problem with high altitude and low temperatures! Impressive. Though it is considered the highlight of the expedition, we are sure that there are lots more fantastic places and scenery to experience. Greetings to the Sabahans too. Today's message is sent on Sabah's Malaysia independence day and TYT birthday. Everyone is fine at home, with Jeriel struggling at times in the weaning process.

To: Ajee (Car No 16) From: Audrey 15th September | Check your phone settings. It should be set to auto, own no.setting is ON, SMS centre no is +6 016 2999902, then under Menu connectivity data & communication SMS setting set to GSM. After that, switch off your phone for 5 mins and then switch it on again. If it still doesn’t work, try to use your sim card on another phone. If it still doesn’t work, it could be the problem with the China telecom provider or your sim card.
To: Farid From: Yan 15th September | A'kum Yed. How's the expedition? Hope everythings are a-ok and the engines coping well and have no complains. All of us in the office are fine. A bit tempang because you are not here but we'll try to manage. I've been storying to Luqman and Syahmina about your adventure and that made them melopong a bit. Told them about Everest and had a troubling time when they asked how high is it. Its hard to explain the height in metre concept to the kids and I end up telling them it's hudred times higher than the PETRONAS Twin Towers. This might not be true, but at least they get the picture on how high it is. Ok, Yed, enjoy the rest of the trip and be extra
careful as not to cut your finger again. And all the very best to the rest of the team as well.
To: Rozy From: Khalidah 14th September | Hi Osy! How're you doing, getting tan or rosier? There's new good /
happy news here, but will have to wait till you come back to tell you. Your mama have been to Melaka twice since you left, so i got some updates from her on your locations. Since, i'm stuck in this hotel as usual, don't really have any adventurous stories to tell you. Ngah kirim salam. You take care, have fun...cheers - long
To: Wan Mokhtar (Eagle One) From: Evelyne Wan Mokhtar 14th September | Hi daddy, Hope all is well over there. Looking forward to your final trip. Eat well, sleep well and drive safely. Take care see you when you get back! Love, Your first daughter... :) |
